Give Me A Day

Give me a day, where you let me tell you

All the colours the sky is, but blue.

I’ll tell you how I feel when I know it’s going to rain,

And how the accompanying grayness does nothing to keep me sane.

Give me a day, where I can let my hair be,

I’d colour it purple, or pink; or anything that defines me.

I’d give the blow dryer a miss, and let the fuzz stay,

I’d put on a hat, even a sombrero on a particularly bright day.

Give me a day, where there’s no time I’ve to be home,

Who knows if I’d meet someone magical? A giant? A gnome?

And it would be nice to be free from reason or rationale or both,

And be the person I’ve always wanted to be, before the self taken oath.

Give me a day, where I can afford to lose an hour or a few,

And I’d do just that, because doing nothing would feel so new.

I’d re read all my books so I could underline my favourite parts,

I’d decorate my niece’s room, and paint it with little hearts.

Give me a day, won’t you?
